The activity of Soares da Costa in Mozambique goes back to 1982, accompanying the strategic interest in the Portuguese speaking African countries since the beginning of the internationalization process. The birth of Soares da Costa Moçambique began with the acquisition of a local company in 1995, to which the Group transferred its know-how in terms of experience, human resources and equipment.

The actuation of Soares da Costa in this African country has be constant in terms of business volume for the last financial years, and of note are the construction or rehabilitation of buildings (among which are two elementary schools, in the provinces of Manica and Inhambane, a hospital in Montepuez, and a hotel in Maputo) and of various roadways (an example of which is the participation in the complex construction of the bridge over the Zambeze River, a fundamental axis of the connection between the North and the South of the country and for the mobility of all of the region’s inhabitants).

During 2009, they were recognised in this country for completion of work on the Bridge over the Zambezi River in Caia, inaugurated in August, which received the highest praise despite the obstacles that arose during construction. This especially important work for Mozambique overcame the main natural obstacle of the North/South motorway link allowing, within the priorities of the country, realisation of a policy of strategic revitalisation of commercial and industrial relations among the provinces of the North and South.

During last year the Employment and Professional Training Centre in Inhambane was completed and inaugurated.
